The Braverman clan will face more emotionally gripping challenges in the next all-new episode of NBC's "Parenthood" this Thursday.

In last week's episode, "Let's Go Home," Zeek was released from the hospital, but he still faced the dilemma of whether or not to go under the knife for heart surgery. Meanwhile, Joel and Julia continued to show promising progress in reconciling their marriage and Sarah accepted Hank's marriage proposal, reports Entertainment Weekly. In addition, Adam had a change of heart about reopening The Luncheonette with his brother Cosby.

A preview video of the next episode, which is titled "We Made It Through the Night," reveals that Amber will go into labor, while Zeek decides to get a risky heart surgery.

Although fans have been on edge about Zeek's health this season, "Parenthood" executive producer Jason Katims teased that his condition will not overshadow the other storylines in the last two episodes of the show.

"We have this story with Zeek that has anchored the season and will continue to as we move forward. But we also have all of these characters and their stories, and they're big stories that are happening as well," said Katims to The Hollywood Reporter. "What we wanted to do was continue to tell that story with Zeek but not have it overshadow what's happening with Sarah (Lauren Graham) and Hank (Ray Romano), what's happening with Joel (Sam Jaeger) and Julia (Erika Christensen), what's happening with the Luncheonette."

He continued, saying: "We found a way to tell these stories so that what's happening with Zeek permeates but doesn't take over," Katims says. "It's important for these last couple of episodes that we tell more stories than only Zeek. Sarah is very influenced by what's happening with her dad, as are Adam and Crosby and Julia. When you're faced with what's happening -- and so many of us have been through that with a loved one like that -- it puts things in perspective."

The showrunner also warned that just because Joel and Julia are making progress in their relationship, it won't be smooth sailing for the couple as they move forward.

"We wanted to deal with the idea of coming back together, and moving back in is filled with some complication," Katims says. "It's not that simple. I remember talking to Sam about that story, and he was happy we were doing that because that is what the show is. It's never just kiss and make up and it's all good. It's more about what would Joel moving his stuff back into the house be like? We told that story, and we have one more big twist with them."

According to Carter Matt, the synopsis for the penultimate episode before the series finale states:

"Camille (Bonnie Bedelia) and Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) make a decision concerning Zeek's health. Sarah (Lauren Graham) makes a big decision and shares some good news with her dad. Adam (Peter Krause) and Crosby (Dax Shepard) clash over differing business opinions, and Adam stands his ground, deepening the tension between the brothers. Amber (Mae Whitman) rushes to the hospital with labor pains, and the Bravermans flock to her side."

During an interview with TVGuide, actress Erika Christensen opened up about the finale, revealing that it will give fans a glimpse of the main characters in the future, three years from now.

"I think it will be really satisfying and interesting, because it covers a lot of ground," said Christensen, who plays Julia on the show. "We go through three years, I think, of some more family developments. ... A lot can happen."

Actor John Corbett, who play's Sarah's ex and Drew and Amber's absentee father on the sitcom, also revealed that he will not be a part of the finale. Corbett says that although he shot an emotional scene with Lauren Graham (Sara), the producers decided at the last minute to cut it out of the episode due to time constraints.

"I got a bad call from Jason Katims two nights ago - they had to cut my great scene," said Corbett at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, according to CinemaBlend. "They flew me all the way from New York to do a scene with Lauren, and God, it was such a good scene. I got to see [Amber's] baby and they had to cut it for time. I was super bummed."

Season 6, Episode 13 of "Parenthood," "We Made It Through the Night" airs on Thursday, Jan. 22 on NBC.
