Fox has announced the premiere dates for its winter schedule. Amongst them is the season premiere for the 13th season of "American Idol," with judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.

"American Idol" will see a two-part premiere spanning two days: Jan. 15 and Jan. 16. Each premiere night will feature a two-hour episode of the singing competition show. In addition, "Idol's" results show, which airs on Thursdays, will be cut in half. The results show will be only 30-minutes long for eight weeks in the spring.

The shortening for of "Idol's" results will hopefully bring audience members to check out the new comedy by Christopher Meloni, "Surviving Jack."

Fox is not the first network to cut down a competition show's air time. Most of these shows are declining in ratings. As a result, ABC eliminated the hour-long airing of "Dancing With the Stars" on Tuesdays, Variety reports.
