In a recent interview with The Edit, "The Affair" actress Ruth Wilson revealed her opposition of performing sex scenes and explained some of the disadvantages for female actresses appearing nude on-screen.

Wilson said female actresses are often given the short end of the stick when it comes to acting out sex scenes. Unlike male actors, women actresses are often required to show their breasts and make "orgasm faces" in order to make the scene more enticing to watch.

She suggested women are frequently left to do more of the work and reveal more in sex scenes in order to make the scene more enjoyable for viewers.

"Women have to provide the titillation because penises can't be seen on screen but breasts can," she said. "It's assumed that women will get their breasts out and have to get their breasts out, and I balk at that. It's unnecessary and unfair."

In addition to naming topless scenes as "unfair," Wilson named performing "orgasm faces" on-screen as unreasonable.

"Why have I always got to do the orgasm face? There should be a male orgasm face. Why is it always the woman who's orgasming? Let's analyze the male orgasm," she said. "It's hard to make good sex scenes work. There are so many crap ones out there."

The Golden Globe-winning actress also dispelled rumors she and Jake Gyllenhaal are more than just friends, ABC reports.

While she admits she and Gyllenhaal are close, Wilson insists her relationship with the "Nightcrawler" actor is similar to the relationship of a brother and sister.

"We've become like brother and sister a little bit," Wilson said. "We spend so much time together. We trust that even if we have a little [disagreement] -- which is going to happen because we're in a tense environment that demands a lot from us -- we'll make up and we'll be fine. I trust him implicitly."

Wilson and Gyllenhaal were rumored to be romantically involved after they were spotted kissing and holding hands at a Golden Globes after-party.
