Singers Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have mutually ended their marriage of six years, Us Weekly reports.

The couple recently released a statement explaining they are still friends, despite their divorce.

"Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have mutually decided to end their marriage of almost 6 years," they said in a joint statement. "It is a respectful, amicable parting of ways and both Mandy and Ryan are asking for media to respect their privacy at this time."

Prior to their split, Moore and Adams chose to be private about their relationship.

In fact, they were so private Adams hung up during a phone interview with a radio host in Melbourne after he was asked a question about his relationship with Moore.

Following the phone interview, Adams spoke with BuzzFeed about his decision to hang up and keep things private in regards to his then-wife.

"Okay, so I just hung up because I was on the radio getting asked about my wife," he said. "I was really nice about it the first time, and I'm sorry, but I won't repeat myself. The deal is this: I'm a private person, and I'll be a gentleman and say I'm not talking about my marriage ever. I'll never talk about it. Ever."

But despite his past decision to keep things private, E! News reports Adams bared his soul while performing an emotional ballad on "The Late Late Show" following his split from Moore.

Adams performed "Gimme Something Good," a song which includes the lyrics, "I can't talk / My mind is so blank / So I'm going for a walk / I've got nothing left ... All my life been shaking / Wanting something / Holding everything I have like it was broken / Gimme something good."

Moore and Adams tied the knot back in 2009, and have no children together.
