After announcing the news of the couple's separation last week, Orland Bloom has finally opened up about his split from wife Miranda Kerr.

Bloom and Kerr started dating back in July 2007 and secretly got married three years later, just one month after announcing their engagement. Their spokesperson recently made a joint statement that the pair has been "amicably separated for the past few months." Now, the couple officially has announced the end of their three-year marriage, after having their two-year-old son, Flynn.

"We love each other. We're a family. We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives," Bloom said when he made a guest appearance on a recent talk show with Katie Couric. "There's no question, for the sake of our son and everything else, we're going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn."

The British actor and the Australian supermodel have already shown that they are going to continue to be great parents and be there for their son. The couple was spotted in New York City over the weekend, having a little family outing with Flynn, even after announcing their split.

Orlando Bloom then continued to speak highly of Mirand Kerr, and emphasized the fact the parted couple's main concern and priority is their son.

"Life sometimes doesn't work out exactly as we plan or hope for, but fortunately we're adults," Bloom said. "I'm 36 now, she's 30, and we're professionals and we love and care about each other and we most of all love our son."
