Glu Mobile knows Hollywood. That is why the mobile game company behind "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood" is enjoying an excellent earnings report for the fourth quarter and it is also why the company is putting out another game based on a star, this time Katy Perry, MercuryNews reports.

Fourth-quarter sales numbers came in for Glu Mobile and the company made $72.9 million versus $63.7 million expected by analysts.

Thursday, the company's stock is soaring over 20 percent on news that they have signed a five-year partnership with singer Katy Perry to develop a game with her likeness and voice.

"Katy is arguably the most recognized musician in America following her Super Bowl XLIX halftime performance this past Sunday," Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi said in a prepared statement Wednesday. "She is a cultural icon and we expect to translate key elements of her success into an innovative, highly entertaining mobile experience."

More than 11 billion minutes were spent playing the Kim Kardashian game and Glu hopes that the Katy Perry game is just as successful.

The company will keep expanding; it plans to hire 135 new employees and wants to create more games in the future.

De Masi hopes to create more games involving celebrities and wants the next game to feature a sports athlete.

"I'm really looking at people who have name recognition, a tremendous social following, and willing to be hands-on in our approach," De Masi added.

Perry has almost 65 million followers on Twitter and that is likely why his company targeted her for its next game.

The Katy Perry game is expected sometime in the second half of 2015. It will be available on iOS and Android devices according to Engadget.
