Talks of a new Samsung Galaxy S smartphone has been in rounds for weeks now; however, no release date has been reported of until now. Several rumors say the new Galaxy S5 will be revealed at the Mobile World Congress on February 2014.

Samsung has been keeping mum about what could be their next flagship smartphone, but this has not stopped sites from posting reports about the next Galaxy S phone. The successor to the successful Galaxy S4, the S5 seems to have cropped up features that are expected to battle Apple's iPhone 5S - from a 16 MP camera to an eye sensor. However, the most interesting news bit as of late is its launch date. According to Christian Today, the smartphone is expected to be released during the Mobile World Congress on February 2014.

The report notes that the South Korean company is aiming a launch date for the device sometime during the exhibit's three day event - from Feb. 24-27 - in Barcelona, Spain. It also said that previous reports of a January release at the Consumer Electronics Show is now unlikely to proceed.

The Mobile World Congress is an annual event that brings together some of the biggest names and brands in the industry. Over 1,700 exhibitors make up the three day trade fair, while a number of prominent guest speakers lead the conference with keynote speeches and panel discussions.

"Mobile World Congress is the blueprint for the NEXT big innovation. Whatever is coming NEXT will likely be born at Mobile World Congress 2014," the congress' website described.

While nothing is confirmed yet, it is worth noting that in 2012, reports also said that the Galaxy S4 will be revealed at the2013 MWC. However, the company later confirmed a March launch date for the phone, with its own launching event at New York will take place. If this should be any indication, we can also expect the S5 to have its own event. Stay tuned!
