After finishing the last NFL season 6-10 and watching their win total drop for the third consecutive year, the New York Giants have some work to do.

The Giants and general manager Jerry Reese are very good at drafting players, but they could do a lot of damage in free agency.

Here are five players the Giants should consider signing this offseason:

1. Frank Gore

There's a good chance Frank Gore will re-sign with the San Francisco 49ers, but it can't hurt to throw in a bid. Gore is an experienced veteran running back who has rushed for more than 1,000 yards in eight of the last nine seasons. Gore is also known for staying healthy, having not missed a single game in the last four years. Last year, the Giants ranked 23rd in rush yards, and signing a veteran like Gore to play in a two back system for the price could be a great move.

2. Terrance Knighton

Terrance Knighton (shown above) is arguably the best defensive tackle in the NFL today. His specialty is blocking the middle and stopping the run. Sometimes he's had some overweight issues which have led to fines, but it's never effected his performance in the past. Knighton led the Broncos to the No. 2 rush defense in the league last season. As for the Giants, they ranked 30th overall against the run. He will come at a high price, but Knighton is worth the high value because of what he can do at the line of scrimmage.

3. Da’Norris Searcy

The Giants' secondary has a lot of upcoming free agents such as Antrel Rolle, Quintin Demps, Walter Thurmond and Stevie Brown. Strong safety Da’Norris Searcy was fantastic for the Buffalo Bills last season. The Bills' secondary ranked third in passing yards allowed, first in touchdowns allowed and created the sixth-most interceptions in the league. Buffalo probably won't use the franchise tag on him. Searcy is still just 26 years old, and signing him to a long-term contract would help a Giants defense that plays in a pass happy division that is the NFC East.

4. Bryan Bulaga

The biggest issue facing the Giants front office this offseason is obviously the offensive line. Having said that, the Giants will more than likely draft an offensive lineman in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft. Still, the Giants can add some pieces before then. Green Bay Packers right tackle Bryan Bulaga is a terrific offensive lineman who has protected Aaron Rodgers very well in the past. He also helped the Packers win a Super Bowl against the Pittsburgh Steelers. On the positive side, Bulaga is a great tackle who is just 25 years old. But, he did miss the entire 2013 season because of a torn ACL. Thankfully, he rebounded with a good 2014 campaign.

5. Mike Iupati

Mike Iupati is one of the best interior offensive line in the league today. Iupati has played his entire career with the San Francisco 49ers since being drafted by them in the first round in 2010. Iupati has also been selected to the last three consecutive Pro Bowls. Other than the fact that Iupati is one of the best blocking lineman today, the Giants should love Iupati because of the fact that he's still just 27 years old and he's only missed five games in his five-year career. Iupati will most likely come at a higher price than Bulago, but he may be worth it.

The NFL free agent and trading period begins on Tuesday, March 10 at 4 p.m. EST.
