Amanda Bynes is back to living on her own and an outstanding DUI case against her has been dismissed.

According to People Magazine, the 28-year-old troubled "Hairspray" child star was in a Ventura County, California courtroom on Wednesday when she received the news. The magazine adds the judge extended the conditions of a temporarary conservatorship and her parents will retain control of her fiances.

"Amanda is doing well," said her attorney David Esquibias. "Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago," added another family source. "She has her own apartment and is much happier. She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clearheaded, more focused and has more independence."

It's a far cry from a few months ago when Bynes frequently lashed out against her parents on social media and was seen aimlessly wandering about in West Hollywood. In October of 2014, Bynes was released from a psychiatric ward following a 30-day stay.

"My clients are very concerned about their daughter," Tamar Arminak, the lawyer for the Bynes family, told ABC News in a statement back then. "They are doing everything they can to help Amanda."

As recently as last summer, Bynes was hospitalized and confined to arehan facility before moving back in with her parents. She briefly enrolled in fashion school, but was quickly forced to withdraw.

Bynes was first arrested in 2012 on DUI charges, for which she was ultimately sentenced to three years' probation. Last month, the L.A. City Attorney declined to prosecute the "Easy A" actress after she was collared when police spotted her driving through a red light and stopping in the middle of an intersection.

Authorities said at the time she appeared to be disoriented and later tested for the drug adderall.
