After a bumpy start to the season, the Cleveland Cavaliers are rolling.

The Cavaliers have won 18 of their last 20 games including an impressive victory over the Golden State Warriors Thursday night. With that win, the Cavaliers are now 37-22, now tied for second in the Eastern Conference in wins with the Toronto Raptors.

There's no doubt about it, the Cavaliers have finally found their groove. LeBron James is emerging as an MVP candidate with unbelievable passing and efficient scoring this season. Even Kevin Love is beginning to play quality defense with a team-leading 10.3 rebounds per game this season. Even midseason acquisitions from the New York Knicks J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert are playing well for the Cavaliers.

To make things even better for Cavaliers fans, the Eastern Conference is absolutely putrid this season. At least two teams will most likely make the postseason despite not even having a winning record. Could this finally be the year Cleveland ends their 1964 professional championship drought? If only the José Mesa would have come through in Game 7 of the 1997 World Series. Sorry for the Painful memories Cleveland fans.

Still, NBA fans can't sleep on the first place Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks have a league-high 45 victories this season, and they have a 12 game lead in the Southeast division ahead of the Washington Wizards. Speaking of the Wizards, they are currently on a five game losing streak. Thanks to Paul Millsap and Dominican center Al Horford, the Hawks have the No. 3 ranked defense in the NBA this season.

One of the biggest reasons the Hawks sit atop the East is because of Kyle Korver. Korver is one of the best perimeter shooters in the NBA, as he currently ranks second in most 3-pointers made. No surprise, Stephen Curry leads the league with 173, two more than Korver.

The Hawks have been more consistent this year, and they will most likely have home court come playoff time. That's great news because the Hawks have by far the best home record in the East this season at 26-4. The knock against the Hawks is that they don't have a superstar. When it's crunch time who gets the ball? The Cavaliers will go to James, a two time NBA champion, but the Hawks will rely more on balanced depth.

The NBA is a superstar league, and the Cavaliers have the No. 1 superstar in the NBA. Hence, James has made it to the last four consecutive NBA Finals.

Outside of the Hawks and Cavaliers, there isn't nearly as much competition like we see over in the West. Chris Bosh is scheduled to miss the remainder of the season because a blood clot in his lung, so consequently, the Miami Heat don't have much of a chance. The Chicago Bulls will once again have to finish the season without their star point guard Derrick Rose.

The Hawks and Cavaliers will most likely meet in the Eastern Conference Finals this upcoming postseason. As one team in the Cavs has the high profile names and big offseason additions, the other has an excellent defense in the Hawks, and they play exceptional team basketball.

However it turns out, NBA fans are in for an exciting finish.
