Jay Cutler has been mentioned in several trade talks over the past several weeks, but reports revealed the Chicago Bears will not move the veteran quarterback before the start of the 2015 NFL season.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, sources close to the situation revealed that the Bears have already decided that Cutler will still be their main quarterback for next season.

The Bears are aware of rumors about possible trades, including reports linking Cutler to the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets, but the team source reiterated that such talks are plain speculation.

The ESPN source added that there is no truth that the Bears tried to shop for a potential trade involving Cutler, but Chicago reportedly listened to teams who approached them to inquire about the availability of their players, including the 31-year-old quarterback.

Previous reports indicated that Cutler, who will make $15.5 million this year and has $10 million guaranteed in 2016, will either be traded or be released by the Bears because of his inconsistencies last season.

Talks linking Cutler to a move out of Chicago intensified when new Bears coach John Fox and general manager Ryan Pace declined to publicly endorse the veteran QB during a news conference last month.

When asked about Cutler's future last month, Fox said, "My experience has always been that you need to gather the information, and in turn, you usually make better decisions. We're in that process, and we'll keep you posted."

Pace echoed Fox's statement, saying that they are aware of the things Cutler failed to do last season, which convinced them to reevaluate their quarterback situation further this offseason.

Cutler, who spent the past six seasons of his career with the Bears, completed 66.0 percent of his passes last season for 3,812 yards with 28 touchdowns.

The former Vanderbilt standout completed a franchise record 370 completions, but Cutler was often criticized for his decision-making as he committed a league-worst 18 interceptions.
