Robinson Cano is going from coast to coast after leaving the New York Yankees to sign for more money with the Seattle Mariners.

The former Yankees infielder reportedly agreed with the Mariners on a whopping 10 year, $240 million deal that was just simply more than the Yankees could afford. New York only was able to offer him a seven year deal worth $160 million.

ESPN Deportes reported that Jay-Z and Cano flew to Seattle and received a nine year deal worth about $225 million, but Cano wanted the tenth year and $260 million. They clearly went on to go halfway on it and settled at $240 million.

Considering that Cano is 31 years old, he is definitely thrilled to have the ten year deal to sign him through age 41. Whether he is happy about moving to play with the Mariners is yet to be seen; the team hopes to improve in the 2014 season.

In other news, the New York Mets also picked up a former Yankee by signing Curtis Granderson for four years and $60 million. The 32 year old outfielder hopes to bring a new boost of power to CitiField just two seasons removed from a pair of powered up seasons in which he hit a combined 84 homers.

The move is the second major one for the Mets this offseason in their outfield. Chris Young was signed to a one year contract earlier this offseason. New York is hoping to climb back to relevance in the NL East after finishing last year 74-88. The Braves won the division at 96-66 while the Nationals finished in second at 86-76.

The Yankees, on the other hand, missed out on Cano but still got Jacoby Ellsbury as they look to get an edge against the defending champion Boston Red Sox, who are their division rivals.
