Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will finally make his return from a long layoff and he is looking to prove his doubters wrong in his upcoming fight against Andrzej Fonfara on April 18 at StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Chavez, who has not fought since scoring a unanimous decision win during his rematch with Brian Vera in March last year, said that he will have his skills in full display against Fonfara.

The Mexican boxing superstar, who is the former World Boxing Council middleweight champion, said that he is motivated to score a convincing victory and he feels ready to silence his critics after undergoing intense preparation for his fight against Fonfara.

"With the trainers I have been working on different things," Chavez said via BoxingScene. "I really worked well on the pads with Tiburcio Garcia, with my uncle Rodolfo Chavez we worked on aggressiveness, and with Joe Goosen we worked on my boxing skills and Luis Cornejo worked on my physical performance."

Chavez, who holds an impressive 48-1-1 record with 32 knockout victories, is looking to get a title shot later this year, and a win against Fonfara will put him one step closer to becoming a world champion again.

Meanwhile, Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum revealed that they have reached a settlement with Chavez over their contract dispute.

Arum previously tried to prevent the fight from happening as he insisted that Chavez still has one more fight in his contract with Top Rank Promotions. The Top Rank promoter said that they agreed to satisfactory terms, but he declined to reveal details about the deal.

"We only had one more fight with him," Arum said. "If we had more we wouldn't have been willing to settle. But to hold on for one more fight and litigate didn't make sense, so we arrived at a mutual settlement. Our lawyer worked it out with Chavez's lawyer."

Chavez, who has been under Top Rank Promotions since he started his professional career, earned the ire of Arum after Sinaloa, Mexico native signed a deal with influential adviser Al Haymon. His upcoming fight, which will be his first under trainer Joe Goossen, will be shown on Showtime.
