On Saturday, May 16 Austin, Texas' first all-star Selena tribute band Bidi Bidi Banda will honor the 20th anniversary of the iconic singer Selena Quintanilla's death at The Pachanga Latino Music Festival held at Fiesta Gardens.

Last year, Latin Post was in attendance and had the privilege of hearing Bidi Bidi Banda perform at the Latin-themed music, cultural arts and food festival.

"Composed of members of some of Austin's premier Latin bands, Bidi Bidi Banda is the refried dream of Stephanie Bergara, a native Austinite who grew up listening to Tejano radio and singing in to a hair brush while wearing her mother's red lipstick," according to the band's bio.

Bidi Bidi Banda's "interpretation of Selena's greatest hits will leave you belting lyrics, doing the washing machine and reliving greatness of the Queen of Tejano Music."

The 'Banda' is made of a talented group of musicians including: Vanessa Burden: Backing vocals/Choreography, Rene Chavez: Lead Guitar, Dave Farris: Congas, Marcus Morales: Trumpet/Backing Vocals, Frank Ramirez: Drums/Percussion, Rocky Reyna: Bass/Backing Vocals, Rat Silvas - Keys, Joshua Thomson: Saxophone, Haydn Vitera: Violin/Backing Vocals, Stephanie Bergara: Lead Vocals.

The Pachanga Latino Music Festival partnered with NPR Music and Austin NPR affiliate KUTX 98.9, the Austin Music Experience.

"We are excited to be part of Pachanga Fest this year," said Alt.Latino host Felix Contreras. "Here at Alt.Latino, my co-host Jasmine Garsd and I work very hard to present the best in Latin Alternative music, and doing that live from a stage connects these fabulous musicians with a wonderful audience. It's really what Alt.Latino and NPR Music are all about!"

Several talented additions have been added to the line-up this year. The event will welcome: live electronic Afro-Columbian collective Palenke Soultribe; Mambo big-band Orkesta Mendoza, returning to Pachanga for the third time , Pan-Latin American cumbia band Dos Santos Anti-Beat Orquesta, led by former Austinite and Maneja Beto frontman Alex Chavez; and Los Angeles' modern day torch singer-songwriter Irene Diaz.

"We've been huge Alt.Latino fans since its inception," said Pachanga Latino Music Festival Founder Rich Garza. "Their contribution to the festival is a great opportunity to showcase Pachanga on a national platform and expand our reach even further to more Latin music fans."
