Simon Cowell wasn't kidding when he said that The X-Factor would experience shakeups: it's just been announced that judge Demi Lovato has decided to leave the show to focus on her musical career!

According to Billboard, Lovato -- who, besides Simon Cowell, were the only two judges that carried over from the second season -- already told the cast that she wasn't coming back, and Simon wasn't shocked about the announcement. "I always knew she wasn't coming back because she's touring, so I knew that," Cowell said.

Lovato addressed her exit with a handful of reporters, including The Hollywood Reporter.

"I started the show being a singer and a musician, and so I'm going to go back to that," Lovato said. "It's been really great, but I'm so excited for 2014. I'm going to dedicate it completely and entirely to music -- touring and making a new album. Possibly releasing one."

According to People Magazine, even though the show interferes with Lovato's tour schedule, she definitely had a great time and she will miss her castmates. "I think ultimately my main thing is singing," she said to the magazine. "Maybe movies once in a while, if the right role comes along."

She added that she also wouldn't mind a little bit of a break.

"I will take the month of January completely off!" she vowed. "I want to vacation! I want to watch crime shows on my DVR on my couch ... I need to do some exercising and I don't really have time to do it. I love horseback riding and never get to do that stuff, but January is my time to do all of that."

We wish Demi all the best of luck with her touring! We have no doubt it will be just as successful, if not moreso, than her X-Factor run!
