Every few years, Hollywood feels the need to remake a few classic movies and re-serve them to the new generation. This time, they've decided to rework Planet of the Apes for the umpteenth or so time (the last time, the movie starred Mark Wahlberg)... and the results are pretty amazing!

Director Matt Reeves is in charge of the sequel to the Planet of the Apes 2011 reboot, Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Dawn reportedly does not pick up immediately after Rise, but follows on ten years later from story lines it set up. Rise of the Planet of the Apes saw the end of humanity's reign on earth after apes took over San Francisco.

Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Judy Greer and Keri Russell all appear in the Dawn cast, with The Hobbit actor Andy Serkis featuring heavily in his reprised role of Caesar, the first evolved ape. Rise star James Franco will not be returning.

The official synopsis reads: "A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species."

The film is set to premiere next summer. Check out the trailer below.

We think this latest installment is pretty terrifying... do you agree? Do you prefer the new versions of the film, or the older versions of the film? How about the classic film and TV show starring Charlton Heston? Leave your thoughts -- and your thoughts about the trailer -- in the comments below!
