Fans of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy will be happy to learn the release dates for the sequels, “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed,” have been announced. Both of the highly anticipated movies will be released before Valentine’s Day, like it the first installment.

Universal Pictures announced the films’ release dates last week, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “Fifty Shades Darker” will be released on Feb. 10, 2017. Meanwhile, the third film will hit theaters on Feb. 9, 2018. The studio most likely hopes to achieve the same success as the first film, which has earned more than $560 million since its release on Valentine’s Day.

The announcement comes soon after it was announced E.L. James’ husband, Niall Leonard, will write the script for the sequel. Leonard will replace Kelly Marcel, who left the franchise after butting heads with James.

Though it was believed James would write the scripts for the sequels, this would have hindered the movie-making process, as she has no experience in it. However, her husband has written scripts for television and serves as good compromise between the studio and the author.

However, the sequel still has no director. Sam Taylor-Johnson, the director of the first film, announced her departure from the project last month. Though she did not mention it, it is believed she left because of her constant arguing with James. The trilogy’s author has zealously protected much of the books’ content, preventing some from being altered during the filmmaking.

Something the fans of the films can look forward to is a sneak preview into the sequel. Those who buy the Blu-ray of the film, which becomes available on May 1, can find a little morsel of the second film, according to the film’s Twitter account.
