Rihanna recently described what her anxiously awaited eighth studio album would sound like.

Last week, the notorious marijuana enthusiast released an interlude titled "James Joint" on her website in celebration of 4/20. The 70-second track is all about "smoking weed" and living with no rules ("Here come the police / They know about your history / How you live and love like 'f*ck rules?'").

During her recent V Magazine cover shoot, RiRi spoke about her latest project. And like many a Rihanna fan, the singer is listening to parts of her album over and over again.

"Dude, I'm in love with my interludes," she said. "This one called 'James' is on constant repeat."

The Barbadian star also revealed that the upcoming record is "soulful and aggressive, whether it's lyrically, musically, or just the tone of my voice," which clearly supports the two opposing tracks, "FourFiveSeconds" and "B*tch Better Have My Money."

Rihanna then explained why she loves the collaborative cut featuring Kanye West and Paul McCartney: "the juxtaposition of the music and the lyrics."

"The music is easygoing, but the lyrical content is very loud and in your face. In performing this, the key was to make sure the aggression wasn't lost," she continued.

It has been over two years since the "American Oxygen" singer released her last LP -- 2012's "Unapologetic."

However, RiRi insisted that she did not take time off, rather working on numerous projects in addition to music.

"The past two years are the hardest I've ever worked," she said.

In terms of her musical inspiration, the "Diamond" himaker stays away from the mainstream.

"I run away from anything that does not stimulate me. I often find myself gravitating toward the underground," she said. "There is a certain creative freedom there that you can't experience anywhere else."

Rihanna is set to perform "James Joint" on the season finale of "Saturday Night Live," hosted by Louis C.K. The show will air on May 16 at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
