With the Galaxy S4's seemingly lagging sales, it looks like Apple's latest generation flagship device is gaining more and more followers. Should the Galaxy S5 be released early next year, will it make for a better Christmas gift amidst delay? Here is a quick comparison between Apple's iPhone 5s and the soon to be released Samsung Galaxy S5.

The Apple iPhone 5s has attracted consumers far and wide with its sleek and elegant make-up consisting of metal chassis compared to the plastic-y look and feel of the Samsung Galaxy S4. Rumors surrounding the next generation Galaxy S, however, suggests that Samsung might just follow Apple in the 5th generation release of its flagship device.

Rumor has it that the South Korean giant will also release the 5th generation of its flagship device in two forms - just like Apple. That is, the Galaxy S5 will most likely have a higher end version with metal chassis - to the delight of Samsung fans and a cheaper plastic version to be stacked up against Apple's iPhone 5c.

Recently, Samsung has hinted on displays with 2560 x 1440-resolution translating to about 500+ pixels per inch in resolution for their next generation devices. Although there has been no mention of the S5 as the very device receiving the treat, the upgrade is very much likely. Should the S5 sport the said killer displays, Samsung is sure to double-beat Apple's 4-inch Retina display with 1136-by-640-pixel resolution at 326 ppi.

The iPhone 5s' A7 processor with 64-bit support will also receive another beating should the Samsung Galaxy S5 truly come with 3 to 4GB RAM.

But what everyone is hyped up about with the S5 is its alleged 16MP camera with ISOCELL technology that is sure to send the 5s' 8MP iSight running. If rumors were to be true, it seems that Samsung is indeed gearing up to go against Nokia Lumia and Sony Xperia Z1.

Last but not the least, the S5 will reportedly come with Iris scanners on top of fingerprint scanners. The 5s' TouchID fingerprint technology has gained a myriad of lovers and critics as a screen unlock-cum-security feature. The fingerprint technology has already been used by the HTC One Max but Samsung's alleged eye scanners will be the first, if ever.

The Galaxy S5 is rumored to be released by the first quarter of 2014 - making it too late to be a Christmas present. However, with all the "good stuff" the device seems to be packed with, the Samsung Galaxy S5 might just be iPhone 5s' most cunning rival to date.
