One Georgia mother gave her 10-year-old son a lesson in tough love when she had police execute a "mock arrest" as a punishment for his misbehavior.

Chiquita Hill said her son, Sean, was showing disrespect toward his fifth grade school teacher and refused to do his work. For weeks, she says she tried talking to him and even had his teacher speak to him at their home to try to get him to be obedient.

"We sat down, we talked about it, I asked him what's going on? How are you feeling?" Hill told WTVM. However, "he's going through the phase right now [where] it's just in one ear out the other," she said.

As a result, because nothing seemed to work, she resorted to using a "scare tactic," and asked police officers to put her son in handcuffs.

After about five minutes of sitting in the back of a police car, Sean ran into his mother's arms and repeatedly apologized to her upon his release.

The Columbus mother said she then shared the story and photos of her son with the officers on Facebook. So far, she has received more than 3,500 likes and 1,000 shares along with hundreds of comments.

Many people are showing support for Hill's decision, writing: "I had black cops arrest me when I was 15 and I love them for it, I wouldn't be who I am today."

However, other commentators referenced the situation, saying: "I don't like this, in a lot of cities police really do handcuff young children."

Hill explained she did it out of love to prevent her child from disrespecting authoritative figures when he gets older, which could result in a life-threatening situation.

"Being disrespectful at any age to anyone now could get you killed," Hill told WTVM.

"It's hard for a black male now, and I just want him to grow up to be successful and to be respectful," said the mother.
