Stephen King's novel is heading to Hulu.

King has tackled many different areas of the horror genre over the years, but his 2011 novel "11/22/63" was the first to delve into the area of time travel.

But just as with any good time travel novel, rules have to be established so that story has the most plausibility. King masterfully set the rules of this novel to coincide with events that occur five years before the Kennedy assassination, which happened on Nov. 22, 1963.

The story is simple: A man, Jake Epping, in 2007 time travels to the year 1958 and must stay in that reality for five years to stop the Kennedy assassination from happening. In theory, it was supposed to be a good thing to make sure that Kennedy lives, but the novel deals with the consequences of changing history and how the subsequent world could turn out.

Well now, according to Variety, this epic bestseller from Stephen King has made its rounds with audiences worldwide and will be landing on the small screen via Hulu. J.J. Abrams and his production company, Bad Robot, will be producing the series. The lead role of Jake Epping will be played by James Franco, who is also a producer on the show.

Kevin Macdonald has also signed on to direct and executive produce the first two episodes of the series, which will have a nine-episode run. Macdonald is probably best known as the Oscar-winning director of "One Day in September," a documentary about the Olympics in Munich, Germany back in 1972 where Palestinians held Israeli athletes hostage.

Chris Cooper has also joined the cast as the owner of Al's Diner and mentor to Jake Epping. Daniel Webber has signed on to play Lee Harvey Oswald, and Cherry Jones is slated as Oswald's mother. Lucy Fry will play Oswald's Russian wife, and Sarah Gadon will play Epping's 1958 love interest.

Deadline reports that Brooklyn Sudano has also signed on to play Jake Epping's ex-wife in the show.
