Plenty of basketball fans woke up to find NBA 2K14 under the Christmas tree and now they will all be scrambling to get online and play against their best friends.

One thing for sure is that sports fans will be all over this game for months to come after we learned in mid December that NBA 2K14 has been the highest selling sports video game for the next-gen consoles.

Ronnie 2K 2K14, who calls himself the "source for everything at 2K," announced via Twitter a number of giveaways for NBA 2K fans on Christmas.

"7th present: Giving away #NBA2K14 on the console of your choice. Might want to look here for details," he said before posting some photos to Instagram."

The NBA 2K Sports Facebook page posted a photo of LeBron James donning a photoshopped Santa Claus hat and beard as he jumps up for a big, slamming dunk.

"Happy Holidays from all of us at 2K!" the page reads. "Hope Santa LeBron brought you a NBA 2K14 under your tree. And for those new players, here's a Locker Code for 10,000 Virtual Currency. PS3/360: N14PS-XRN94-2ZSWE-IQXAC-XNH5P PS4/XB1: N14PS-U668X-6IITS-MDPQA-TQPM7."

2K Sports also came out with new patches and updates for the holiday season to fix glitches and problems that were plaguing gamers throughout the fall.

One game that is getting no recognition this holiday season is NBA Live, which fell flat a few years ago and never recovered. Considering how well NBA 2K14 did this year building from last year's 2K13 game, sports fans are now almost exclusively into the 2K Sports game.

Have you picked up a copy of the next-gen game? Or did you go with one of the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 versions? Either way, all of the games are proving to be a huge hit this year. Let us know in the comments section!
