"The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's" cousin/sidekick Carlton Banks, played by Alfonso Ribeiro, has been tapped to take over one of the oldest-running series on network television, "America's Funniest Home Videos," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ribeiro has been slated to replace current host Tom Bergeron, who himself is the longest-running host for the show (15 years), just ahead of the series' first host Bob Saget's eight seasons.

After hosting the show for the past 15 years, Bergeron tweeted back in March that he would be wrapping up his career with the show following the conclusion of the current season. He has said though that he would be continuing on with the reality dancing competition show "Dancing With the Stars."

Ribeiro has been largely out of the pop-culture spotlight since his "Fresh Prince" days, but he is no stranger to hosting television shows. The "Dancing with the Stars" 2014 winner has also done stints on "Unwrapped 2.0," "Spell-Mageddon" and "Catch 21."

AFV is now entering its 26th season on ABC and Ribeiro will be the fourth host to anchor the show. It all started out with Bob Saget in 1989. Then a two-year stint saw both John Fugelsang and Daisy Fuentes take the helm. After that, Bergeron took over until the current season.

Ribeiro spoke with the Hollywood Reporter about how the offer for him to host came about.

"It came together by the people at 'DWTS' and ABC. When last season of 'DWTS' ended, there were several producers that all said to me that they felt that this would be an absolute great gig for me," Ribeiro said. "They suggested to producers of 'AFV' to take a look at me, and they also mentioned it to Tom, who said, 'Oh my God, that is just a beautiful idea. I'm on board.' It just felt like a great marriage."
