If Britney Spears gets her way, she and Gwen Stefani could soon be making beautiful music together.

Billboard magazine reports Spears is openly letting it be known she would be on board to work on new tracks with Stefani as soon as their always hectic schedules might allow.

In a rare interview that she recently granted to an Australian TV station, Spears talks about her ongoing residency in Las Vegas and her recent "Pretty Girl" collaboration with Iggy Azalea. But the news of the day came when Spears instantly said Stefani when quizzed about who should she would like to work with in the future.

Ironically enough, Spears revealed the two were once next-door neighbors and that she has even swam in a backyard pool before with Stefani's husband, Gavin Rossdale.

But for many fans, all that pales to what could be if the two truly ever put their musical talents together.

Thirty-three-year-old Spears is known for such hits as "Oops!... I Did It Again," "Circus," "Scream & Shout," "Womanizer" and "Baby One More Time." Stefani, meanwhile, has recorded such hits as "The Sweet Escape," "Holla Back Girl" and "Simple Kind of Life."

For this to work, there would need to be major schedule concessions on the part of both megastar artists, particularly Spears, who HollywoodLife reports recently began sporting a diamond engagement ring and is rumored to be engaged to Charlie Ebersol. Spears has previously been married twice before and has two young sons.

She and Ebersol began dating more than a year ago, and Spears has made no secret of her desire to walk down the aisle yet another time.

"Would love to. I believe in the fairy tale," she recently told People.
