Amir Khan wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. so bad, but his recent move to get the attention of the undefeated boxer may not be the best way to do it.

Khan stepped up his chase as he mocked Mayweather in a photo posted on Instagram. Khan's Instagram post shows an image of him wearing an oversized boxing glove with "Title" printed on it. The entry's caption read, "Floyd Mayweather fight me. Promise you I'll wear this glove for the fight."

BoxingNews24.com thought Khan's strategy to get a yes from Mayweather was a desperate attempt. The reigning pound-for-pound king, who currently holds a 48-0 win-loss record, including 26 knockouts will likely pick another fighter for his last boxing match before retiring.

The challenge does not look sincere, to begin with, as it was an obvious reference to Mayweather's opposition to Manny Pacquiao's desire to wear his usual Cleto Reyes gloves in their megafight held at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, on May 2, the site added.

Mayweather did not like Pacman's Reyes gloves because of lack of padding, which also happened when Marcos Maidana tried to use his well-known puncher's gloves during his fight against the unbeatean champion last year, noted ESPN.

Moreover, the 28-year-old player may not be on Mayweather's radar for his next fight as he failed to deliver an impressive performance against his recent bout with Chris Algieri. Khan's performance during the May 29 bout was described as "flat" by The Guardian. Even Khan himself admitted his difficulty in facing Algieri.

"Styles make fights and Chris Algieri had a style which was very tough for me to beat," Khan said. "He was very long, very slick at times. We didn't expect him to come forward like he did. We thought he was going to be on the back foot so that way we could start putting pressure on him and breaking him down, but he showed a lot of heart in there," he added.

Algieri's trainer John David Jackson also criticized Khan.

"Khan ran. He ran, held and grabbed. All he wanted was to get that lottery, which is Floyd Mayweather. He didn't dominate this fight. He did come out the victor but a lot of people will question it," Jackson said.

Mayweather has been keeping the cards close to his chest, but he might make an announcement about his next fight soon enough.
