Dwyane Wade may be turning 34 in January, the age when most basketball stars retire, but his productivity as a shooting guard – whenever he is not injured – is no secret. In fact, he is one of the most in-demand basketball players, especially now that he may decide to become a free agent this summer, according to a Miami Herald report published in May.

Wade may have been with the Miami Heat during his 12-year career in the NBA, but it appears that he is ready to leave the team behind if they do not raise their offer. Apparently, Wade wants the team to offer him a more lucrative 3-year deal – one that he reportedly hopes will be extended past his 36th birthday.

“Every effort will be made to try to work something out,” Henry Thomas, Wade’s agent told Miami Herald at the time. “The five times he played for a championship – resulting in three championships – is a significant accomplishment for any professional. We are continuing to talk about a resolution that would be satisfactory to both sides.”

Now that the issue between Wade and the Heat has not been resolved yet, other teams have reportedly swooped in to attempt to land an offer on the highly skilled shooting guard. Chris Mannix, senior writer of Sports Illustrated, took to Twitter to confirm that the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly have similar interests with Wade.

“While many execs still see Wade/Heat as contract saber rattling, a Wade option will be the Lakers,” he wrote. “Mutual interest, per league sources.”

SB Nation, meanwhile, is confident that joining the Lakers could end up being the right decision for Wade. There is no better way to spend his supposed final years in the league than to do so with Kobe Bryant.

However, the Lakers is not the only team that is being linked with Wade at present, especially after Wade’s father was spotted wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers shirt.

While speaking on stage at a church, Wade’s big man was photographed wearing a gray, fitted shirt – one that sculpted his muscled physique very well. Miami Heat fans would have praised how good Wade’s father looked in the photo, if not for the huge, bold lettering right at the middle of the shirt that said Cleveland Cavaliers in all capital letters.

As of the moment, there has been no explanation regarding this t-shirt incident, which has further made Heat fans even more alarmed that their superstar just might be leaving their team pretty soon.
