Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton offered some reassurance to a gay teenager who on the popular Humans of New York Facebook page had worried that people might dislike him because of his sexuality on Friday.

"Prediction from a grownup: Your future is going to be amazing," Clinton commented below the picture of the unnamed boy with a tearful expression. "You will surprise yourself with what you're capable of and the incredible things you go on to do. Find the people who love and believe in you -- there will be lots of them."

Kristina Schake, Clinton's deputy communications director, took a screenshot of the comment and shared it on Twitter shortly after it was written some two hours after the original "Humans of New York" post had gone up, The New York Times detailed. The comment, which is signed with an "-H," however, came from the candidate herself, her campaign told the AP on Sunday.

Support for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans marks a "cornerstone" of the former first lady's second White House bid.

"Some have suggested that gay rights and human rights are separate and distinct, but in fact, they are one and the same," Clinton said in a recent campaign video. "Being LGBT does not make you less human."

Humans of New York has been known to produce viral content on a regular basis. The Facebook blog thanked Clinton for her message in a brief comment, Us Weekly noted.

The Democratic frontrunner was not the only celebrity to express her solidarity with the boy pictured on the social network, who had said that he felt "afraid about what my future will be." Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres also chipped in with some encouragement.

"Not only will people like you, they'll love you," DeGeneres wrote. "I just heard of you, and I love you already."
