In last week's "Wayward Pines" Episode 7 "Betrayal," Theresa Burke pleaded with Ethan Burke to find a way back to Seattle. Ethan told his wife the truth about the town and the current year. She did not believe him. She told him that Dr. Jenkins and Nurse Pam did something to make him suddenly accept that as truth. She asked him to remember if they did something to him, but he could not.

Ethan found a bomb inside his car. He pulled Franklin's folder, thinking he may have built the bomb, and started an investigation. Franklin worked in explosive demolition in the past but denied any knowledge of a bomb.

Ethan also talked with Harold and Kate Hewson; he knows they are part of the group plotting to blow up the fence and escape.

In school, Ben Burke and his friend Amy were called to the front of the class as Mrs. Fisher talked about procreation and reminded the class about their responsibility of producing the town's first generation.

Theresa continued her investigation into plot 33. She discovered something under the ground. She tried to open a hatch beneath the dirt but could not. She mentioned it to Big Bill, her boss at the real estate office. He told her to stop snooping.

Later, Ethan stopped Kate and her group from detonating a bomb at the fence. He placed the group in jail. Kate told Ethan that he cannot stop the inevitable. She tried to convince him that he has been brainwashed.

Ethan realized that Kate's husband, Harold, was missing from the group. He reviewed surveillance footage and noticed that Harold handed a paper bag to another resident named Ted. He discovered the bag contained another bomb headed for the fence inside a delivery truck driven by Ted.

Meanwhile, Ben escaped through his bedroom window to meet Amy. The pair climbed inside a delivery truck to hitch a ride.

Amy found the music box containing the bomb inside the truck. She opened it. As it played, she and Ben shared a kiss. The bomb exploded.

He drove after the truck to stop it, but people blocked the road with a trash bin and caused him to have an accident. Ethan ran to the truck after it exploded. He found Amy standing in the street disoriented and Ben on the ground unconscious.

In this week's "Wayward Pines" Episode 8, "The Friendliest Place on Earth," Ethan is determined to track down the person responsible for the explosion that left Amy and Ben with severe injuries.

"Harold opts out of the covert operation he and Kate were planning, and Nurse Pam interviews surveillance engineers to find out if there are any workers responsible for falsely reporting activities of any Wayward Pines residents," the synopsis reads, according to CarterMatt.
