While many believe that Irene Adler (Lara Pulver) will return to BBC's "Sherlock," others believe that the resourceful and intelligent dominatrix should have her own series to showcase her impressive array of skills and talents.

Adler first appeared on "Sherlock" during the first episode of the second season, "A Scandal in Belgravia," during which she revealed herself to be a practical and cunning woman who snapped compromising photographs with a female member of the royal family.

She appeared before Detective Holmes in the nude and left him unable to properly deduce anything about her. Incredibly, she later sedated Holmes, retrieved her phone with the incriminating photos and escaped. From then on, their fates became entangled, particularly after Holmes secretly saved her from terrorists in Karachi, Pakistan. Alder also made a cameo during the episode "The Sign of Three," as a figment of Holmes' imagination.

With a three-year gap between the third and fourth seasons of the crime drama miniseries, fans are clamoring over the idea of a spin-off, particularly if that spin-off features a lead who happens to be the very first woman Holmes has been remotely romantically interested in.

In more than one interview, Pulver has said that she doesn't believe she's going to return to the series any time soon. That same attitude was echoed by series co-creator Mark Gatiss. With that said, Pulver hasn't denied the possibility of an upcoming independent series.

Radio Times held a poll that revealed that 68 percent of the fans believe Adler and Holmes should have their own show. However, at this point, the idea of a series with Adler, highlighting her life with or without Sherlock, is totally a fantasy of fans. BBC nor show-runners have confirmed details about the possibility of a homecoming or a stand-alone series.
