Shortly before the much awaited 2015 San Diego Comic-Con International begins, Marvel has some special news to announce regarding Scott Derrickson’s film.

According to Heroic Hollywood, “Doctor Strange” film makers have just cast Rachel McAdams from “The Notebook” for the female lead role of the upcoming Marvel movie. Unfortunately, however, the report did not mention which particular role she was going to portray.

Based on the comic source material, though, the titular sorcerer has had quite a few love interests, such as the sorceress Clea, as well as Morgana Blessing. It is speculated that McAdams will be playing one of these roles.

Clea is the niece of Dormammu, the evil tyrant who happens to be one of Doctor Strange’s biggest enemies. Clea was first introduced into the “Doctor Strange” storyline when Strange confronted her demonic uncle for the very first time in an alternate version of the world that was called Dark Dimension.

The other love interest, Morgana Blessing, is troubled with her love life. She is confused between being a friend for Doctor Strange or allowing a budding romance between them to develop. She was, however, in a relationship with his brother, Victor Strange, or Baron Blood, at one point.

Although Baron Mordo may be the main villain in the upcoming installment of “Doctor Strange,” including Clea into the arc somehow polishes the storyline for the Dark Dimension and Dormammu, who is speculated to be the villain in the second “Doctor Strange” film. On the other hand, Morgana has some pretty strong ties with Baron Mordo, which makes her appearance in the movie more likely.

“Doctor Strange” is about an egotistical neurosurgeon, Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange, who becomes injured after a vehicular accident. After realizing that he can no longer use his hands as well as he used to, he sets forth to find a miracle cure.

“Doctor Strange” will start production in London in November. Joining McAdams are Benedict Cumberbatch from “The Imitation Game” as the titular Sorcerer Supreme, Tilda Swinton form “Constantine” as The Ancient One, and Chiwetel Ejiofor from “12 Years A Slave” as Baron Mordo.

"Doctor Strange" is part of Phase 3 of the MCU, or Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is slated for a November 4, 2016 release date.
