Motley Crue Concert Tour Dates & Venue 2014: Rock Band Announces Retirement After 72 Concerts in US

The infamous heavy metal band Motley Crue has reached the end of the road, TMZ reports. After 33 years of rock and roll, the band announced their retirement during a news conference at the Beacher's Madhouse Theater in Hollywood.

To add to the theatricality of their announcement, the band sat in front of headstones with the words "RIP" and each member's name written on them as they addressed the press.

But before the "Shout at the Devil" musicians put away their microphones, drumsticks, and guitars for the very last time, the band will be holding a 72 concert tour as a final farewell. They will be joined by shock rocker Alice Cooper.

The first stop of the tour will be on July 2, 2014 at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. To check out the rest of the tour dates, click here.

Of course, fans of the iconic rock band still believe the Final Tour will not be the last event for the members of Motley Crue performing under the same flag. After all, like other legendary acts, Crue has been known for making retirement announcements in the past.

But, as proof of their seriousness and like the metaphorical final nail to the coffin, each member of the band signed a "cessation of touring" document prepared by their lawyer. Basically, this agreement prevents the members from using the Motley Crue trademark for touring purposes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition, to stop reporters from questioning the band's decision, the band's bassist Nikki Sixx responded, "You guys in the press - you keep looking for the loophole. We don't want to hobble off into the sunset, we want to leave a legacy.

Motley Crue's announcement marked a sad day in rock and roll but as Sixx once said, it would be sadder "if we were playing half-full theaters and only two band members were in the band... That would be sad. Sad is not taking your final bow in Los Angeles all together as four brothers."

Lead vocalist Vince Neil shares Sixx's sentiments. He said, "We want to go out with the four founding members."
