The first "X-Men: Apocalypse" trailer was shown at the Comic-Con convention this past weekend and revealed a number of spoilers.

It was the first footage to be shown for a film that is currently in production and is one of the most anticipated for next year. So what was learned from the event?

1.       Wolverine is in the film?

For months it has been rumored that Wolverine will make an appearance in the film, especially since "X-Men: Days of Future Past" left a cliffhanger with the characters. After Hugh Jackman's appearance at Comic-Con, the character is definitely more than confirmed. However, the trailer did not show a single clip of him, which is a sign that he will either be a cameo or it is a surprise.

2.       Gambit is in the Film?

Like Wolverine, there have been many rumors about Channing Tatum being in the new film. With Tatum's appearance at the panel, it seems his character will be appearing in a small cameo. Perhaps it will be like Quicksilver's in "Days of Future Past" or it will help set up the anticipated "Gambit" film, which is also being filmed.

3.       Plot Details Revealed

Bryan Singer and the cast were all present and the director revealed new details about the story. He said, "It takes past 10 years after 'Days Of Future Past' in a completely different world. Mutants are for the most part embraced and accepted by society. That's where we find our characters, and we find them in all different places." The trailer also shows the first footage of Apocalypse and it seems the character is hunting all the X-Men and attempting to lure them against Magneto and Xavier.

4.       Apocalypse Revealed

As aforementioned, the villain was finally revealed and it seems he has Storm and a number of other superheroes by his side. Additionally, it seems like he controls Magneto against his will as well as Xavier. This will be interesting considering both these X-Men are among the most powerful. Oscar Isaac, who will play the character, described the villain as a "cult leader." Based on the trailer, it also looks like the Apocalypse will have Psylocke and Angel by his side.

5.       Mystique is not a villain

Mystique has been one of the most interesting characters in the franchise as she has went through a whirlwind of emotions throughout the past two films. In the first film she joined Magneto and in the second film she separated and went her own way after being out of control. Based on the trailer it seems she is now on Xavier's side and will definitely play a lead role in this film.

X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to  star James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Lucas Till (Havoc) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver). The film opens on May 27, 2016.
