NBA 2K16 might feature some college teams in its game modes.

2K Sports may have already obtained several licenses from some colleges to feature them in the game, Attack of the Fanboy reports.

A user on Operation Sports discovered evidence that 2K Sports has acquired the license for 10 college teams. He discovered this information by using the Collegiate Licensing Company website. The colleges that have reportedly been licensed are: Arizona, Arizona State, Georgetown, Louisville, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, UCONN, Villanova, and Wisconsin.

Video games website Pasta Padre says that NBA 2K16's MyPlayer mode might use the college teams to show the growth of a player as he seeks to enter the NBA.

Having college teams in NBA 2K16 would make the MyPlayer mode even more realistic. The character in the MyPlayer mode will have to perform well in college to then get drafted into the NBA. The college teams that are included in the game are licensed, but that does not mean that their entire rosters will be. The teammates of the MyPlayer character on the college team might end up being computer-generated players.

NBA 2K games have not used college teams in the past, so this would be a welcome addition to NBA 2K16. Classic teams from the past have been included in the game and recently European league teams have been added as well. By slowly adding college teams, NBA 2K16 could be the first step in adding even more college teams and players into the NBA 2Kseries.

2K Sports has not released a statement regarding college teams making it into the game, yet. The most recent confirmed addition for NBA 2K16 was the inclusion of the Summer League.

NBA 2K16 will be released on Sept. 29. Those who pre-order the game will be able to start playing it Sept. 25.
