The World Boxing Council middleweight interim champion and mandatory challenger Gennady "GGG" Golovkin believes that Saul Alvarez will win over Miguel Cotto in their November title bout, rumored to take place in Las Vegas.

The undefeated Kazakh warrior told Max Kellerman on Sports Nation that although the match may be close, he thinks that the Mexican will emerge as the victor.

Canelo for the win?

"It's 50-50, but I think so Canelo [will win]," Golovkin told the boxing commentator, as quoted by Boxing Scene.

During the interview, the undefeated Kazakh warrior, who punished 30 of his 33 opponents via TKO loss, admitted that between the two, the younger fighter will give him a harder time.

"Maybe Canelo [will be the toughest challenger for me]. He's young, new style, new situation," Golovkin said.

Kellerman, shared GGG's belief, saying that Alvarez's age could be his edge over the Puerto Rican fighter.

Even boxing fans of Boxing Scene seem to agree that Canelo cannot be stopped and defeated by Cotto. A reader, "Killer_of_Sheep,"  wrote that "As soon as Canelo start touching Cotto up to the head and body, he's gonna have some Margarito flashbacks and get on his bike."

The reader is pertaining to Cotto's 11th-round TKO loss on his fifth welterweight title defense against Antonio Margarito at the MGM Grand in 2008. However, the 34-year-old Puerto Rican got his revenge in their rematch three years later in New York, his stronghold, when he was declared the winner via a stoppage in the 10th round, ESPN noted.

Cotto's Edge

Some boxing fans and analysts cast their vote for Cotto, saying that the boxer will not be overthrown by Canelo, who is a decade younger. In fact, they even think that it's actually his age and his longer boxing experience that makes him lethal.

For boxing expert Jamie Moore, Cotto has what it takes to win.

"I just personally feel that Cotto has more experience at a higher level and will go in to the fight with great confidence. He'll be flying because he beat the linear middleweight champion having moved up from light-middleweight. I think size-wise, these two match up evenly but I think Cotto just has the experience to nick it," Moore said on Sky Sports.

A boxing aficionado named "onetwopunch" commented on BoxingScene that although Canelo "slightly" improved in his boxing fights, it may still not be "great" enough to beat Cotto who "looks reborn under Roach."

Freddie Roach himself thinks his fighter can knock out Canelo.

Golovkin-Canelo vs Golovkin-Cotto

Golovkin, who is the current middleweight king for the World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization, aims to unify the belts under this weight class, according to his promoter, Tom Loeffler.

The reason why the Cotto-Canelo bout in November is the center of attention right now is the much more anticipated match after that for Triple G fans.

Based on the comments on a Bad Left Hook article, most of the sport's enthusiasts want to see a Golovkin-Canelo match as it will be a "fireworks show in the making."

On the other hand, Cotto's interview with Max Kellerman, seemed to suggest that he may not be keen to fight Golovkin, which makes Canelo, who is said to be ready to face Golovkin anytime, the favored fighter in November.
