Tech newbie OnePlus will be adding to their limited yet impressive collection of smartphones later this year.

According to OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei in an interview wit USA Today, the company's third offering will be launched in December, just in time for Christmas.

The yet to be officially named "OnePlus 3" will mark the company's second smartphone this year. OnePlus 2  is currently in its mass-production and shipping phase and will be available on Aug. 11.

Pei also clarified about his company's current reputation of being a mid-level smartphone producer.

"Advertising is diminishing in value and the value of good products is rising because it can be discovered without a huge marketing budget... I'm sure that if Samsung cut all their stores and cut all the distribution and went direct to consumer they would be able to sell their phone at a lower price than we do. So it's not about making a cheap phone at all."

The 25-year-old businessman went on to boldly predict the future of his brand. He said there will only be three legitimate players in the handset arena in five years, with OnePlus being the runner-up to Apple and Samsung at third place.

He backed his claims by saying, "Everyone else would've died because they couldn't reach the scale they wanted fast enough or they couldn't have a margin to sustain their business."

Asked on what fans can expect from the December 2015 OnePlus smartphone, Pei's answer was vague. He was impressed by the handset's prototype but stated that the OnePlus 2 is also "super nice."

The OnePlus 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. It has 4-gigabyte of RAM and has a 5.5-inch full HD display. It comes with up 64-gigabyte internal storage as well as a 3300mAh battery. It has an upgraded 13-megapixel rear camera with a sharper sensor and laser-enhanced focus and a 5-megpaixel front camera.

The OnePlus 2 also debuts the company's revamped version of the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. The device runs on Oxygen OS, which is lighter than the previous CyanogenMod, Know Your Mobile noted.

Whatever upgrades the possible "OnePlus 3" bring, it will be available via invitation-based purchasing, Trusted Reviews reported.

OnePlus uses this method in selling their products so they could base their production on existing demands. This is to avoid giving away cheap surplus due to over-production of handsets.

At any rate, Pei and Co. must really have something up their sleeves with their release dates. For the sake of profit for both handsets, they most certainly must have something big already planned out.
