Country singer and television actress Reba McEntire and husband Narvel Blackstock announced Monday on her website that they have separated.

The couple, who have been married for 26 years, said in a statement that "despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other. They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so. They have asked that you respect their privacy during this time."

Blackstock, 58, has been McEntire's manager for most of her entertainment career, which has included music, film, theater and television. The Oklahoma native has appeared in 11 films and was the star of the hit TV series "Reba" that ran for six seasons.

The celebrity couple work closely with other music superstars. Blackstock operates a management company that also represents Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson.

The couple have not said whether or not they will file for divorce.

In March, McEntire, 60, told People magazine during an interview that she missed Blackstock while he worked in Los Angeles and she worked in Nashville.

"[He] told me he loved me last night when we talked on the phone," she said. "He's in Los Angeles on business and I'm taking care of business here in Nashville. I miss him when we're apart." She added that they "never leave each other without a kiss and 'I love you.'"

McEntire and Blackstock married in 1989 at a private ceremony on a boat in Lake Tahoe. Together, they formed Starstruck Entertainment, which was initially created to help manage her career.

The couple has one son, race car driver Shelby Blackstock who is signed to race for Andretti Autosport in the Indy Lights series.

The Grammy-winning singer released her 27th studio album, "Love Somebody," on April 14 through the Big Machine Label Group. She is one of country music's most popular artists with No. 1 records in the last four decades.
