New Jersey authorities continue their search for a gunman who shot two people at a hip-hop concert Monday night.

The shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. at the PNC Bank Arts Arena parking lot in Holmdel Township as rapper J. Cole's concert ended, said Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams, a State Police spokesman, according to The New York Times.

Witnesses said the gunfire started after a fight broke out in the parking lot, reports CBS News.

Many concertgoers posted about the shooting on social media.

"I just witnessed three people get shot right behind me at PNC. People are [expletive] sick. I will never be able to forget what I just saw," wrote Felix Santana on Twitter.

The two victims were flown by medevac to Jersey Shore Hospital, according to Sgt. Williams.

Both victims are currently in critical condition, New Jersey State Police told Reuters.

The gunman fled into nearby woods. The police and K-9 officers were still searching for him early Tuesday, according to Sgt. Williams.

The gunman has not been apprehended.

The rapper J. Cole, who is performing concerts on his Forest Hills Drive Tour, had just completed a performance in the arena when the shooting occurred. He was not injured.

The PNC Bank Arts Arena concert was sold out. It also featured performances by hip-hop artists Big Sean, YG and Jeremih.

The next stop on Cole's tour is Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

Cole embarked on his Forest Hills Drive Tour in March, which is based on his album "2014 Forest Hills Drive." The tour began in small markets around the U.S. and arrived at major cities in July and August. Recording artists Big Sean, YG, Bas, Cozz, Omens and Jeremih have also performed alongside Cole on the U.S. tour dates.

After Cole completes his "Hometown" concert dates, he will travel overseas for "The Journey," which consists of 15 shows in Europe. Jhene Aiko, Pusha T, Bass, Cozz and Omen are also scheduled to perform during the concerts.
