The final series of Glee might feature all five 1D members if producers are successful in coaxing the young lads to play as McKinley High School students, says the Daily Star.

According to the Daily Star report, the producers of Glee are now preoccupied with convincing One Direction's manager, Simon Cowell, to have the boys on the show. Moreover, producers are also convincing Cowell to appear alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik.

"They are not much older than High School age so we could have them as students. And I am sure the younger female cast members wouldn't object to their presence either. Both my and Jane Lynch's dream cameo is Simon Cowell. So maybe the boys could bring their manager," Matthew Morrison told the Daily Star.

Morrison, who plays Glee character Will Schuester, even joked about Simon Cowell going head-to-head with Jane Lynch's now promoted character, school principal Sue Sylvester.

Should 1D's cameo role push through, the British boy band will add to the list of stars that have also appeared on the show like Britney Spears, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson, notes the Daily Star.

With Simon Cowell reportedly leaving 'The X Factor' USA for the UK version of the same show, the soon-to-be 'The X Factor' UK head judge will have more time to spare, says the Daily Mirror.

Glee has had two One Direction songs featured in the past seasons, 'What Makes You Beautiful' and 'Live While We're Young,' but their physical appearance will be a first, if ever.

The 'Prom-asaurus' episode of the show aired May 2012 had Samuel Larsem, Damian McGinty, Kevin McHale, Harry Shum Jr. and Chord Overstreet singing 'What Makes You Beautiful' while Grant Gustin and the Warblers sang 'Live While We're Young' in the November 2012 'Thanksgiving' episode.
