Jason Day has won the 2015 PGA Championship.

It is his first career major victory after placing fourth at the British Open and ninth at the United States Open earlier in the year. Day also finished 28th at the Masters. He is the first Australian-born golfer to win the PGA Championship since Steve Elkington did so in 1995.

Day had an all-time great score of 20 under par. He is the first player to ever finish a major 20 under par in PGA golf history, truly an incredible accomplishment. Day was very consistent with his play shooting 68, 67 and 66 the first three days of the tournament. The 27-year-old Australian finished 15th in last year's PGA Championship.

Tiger Woods and Bob Mays previously held the PGA Championship record with 18 under par.

Jordan Spieth, who will now be the No. 1-ranked player in the world, finished second behind Day with 17 under par. Spieth had a great major, but he just couldn't overcome Day's historic weekend. Spieth previously won the Masters and United states Open this year, and will overtake Rory McIlrory for No. 1 in the world golf rankings.

While Spieth put on a late charge, his driving simply couldn't match Day's. Day was phenomenal off the tee all tournament out-driving Spieth at will. That proved to be the biggest difference. Day was ranked No. 5 in the world before this event (the highest of any non-American-born player), but that ranking will certainly go up later this week.
