After Marvel has finished the production of "Jessica Jones" and is currently shooting "Daredevil" season 2, Heroic Hollywood has revealed the details of its third Netflix series, "Luke Cage." The Marvel series will begin its principal photography, which will form The Defenders.

"Luke Cage" will reportedly start its production in the first or second week of September. Mike Colter is set for the role of Luke Cage, but no details on the plot and other characters have been disclosed yet.

According to the report, the series' plot synopsis is as follows:

"Luke Cage is a former gang member who is framed for a crime. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him super strength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, Cage escapes and becomes a hero for hire. His archenemy is Willy Stryker, a former childhood friend from Harlem. The two committed petty crimes together, and both fell for the same woman, Reva Connors, which led to their eventual falling out. It was Stryker who framed Cage for a drug deal that sent him to prison."

Willis Stryker, who is the villain in the 2004 "Luke Cage" movie that did not happen, will also be the main baddie for the series. According to his Marvel profile, Stryker also goes by the name "Diamondback." Carl Lucas (future Luke Cage) and Diamondback are childhood best friends who became gang leaders.

The two became rivals for the love of Reva Connors. Reva chose Willis, but he became violent, pushing Reva to look for comfort in Lucas. Because of this, Willis framed his best friend for a crime, which eventually led him to prison.

In prison, Lucas was experimented on with the Super-Soldier Serum and gained superhuman strength and durability. He escaped prison and returned to New York as "Luke Cage" to target Willis' gang.

The Netflix series will have 13 episodes but can be subjected to changes. According to Deadline, Academy Award-nominated actress Alfre Woodward was recently cast as Minetta, a villain. Cage will make an appearance on Marvel's "Jessica Jones" that will premiere in late 2015.

Marvel's Luke Cage is set to premiere around 2016. It is the third Netflix series for Marvel following Daredevil and Jessica Jones. It will be followed by Marvel's "Iron Fist," eventually leading to a fifth series called Marvel's "The Defenders," as reported by Cosmic Book News. No other cast members have been announced yet for the last three series.
