"Spider-Man" star Tobey Maguire finds an aesthetic compound for his family.

Maguire, the 40-year-old actor who appeared as Nick Carraway in "The Great Gatsby," drops $2.68 million for a Santa Monica estate, Variety reported. The Golden Globe nominee shares ownership of the said home to his longtime wife, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer.

The almost 2,400-square-foot residence includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The Spanish-inspired home also features a great room comprising the living and dining area, an expansive family room appropriate for the couple's bonding time with their two children, a fully-equipped kitchen and a charming porch.

Apart from the main house is a two-story building that could serve as the pair's residential office or an arts and crafts studio. They could further transform it into a separate guest quarters.

Remarkable interior details are soaring ceilings, French doors and an open floor plan, which makes moving within their new dwelling place more comfortable.

This is not the first time the couple have engaged in real estate transactions. In 2008, they bought a Brentwood vacant lot worth $10 million and also paid $8.45 million to another Brentwood home, which belonged to Ricki Lake. However, the said residence, which was also once owned by "Friends" star Courteney Cox, was already sold by the couple just after 15 months of ownership, as announced in April via Los Angeles Times. The pair reportedly profited much — almost a $2-million gain — from the transaction as it was bought for an astounding $10.4 million, noted Variety.

A happy married life

The two who met in 2003, stayed happily married all these years because they are a great match.

A friend close to Meyer shared why the pair would make a great couple.

"They are similar because they are very guarded around people they don't know," Meyer's friend told People in 2003.

Although the very private couple rarely talks about their marriage life, an interview with Elle magazine, clearly indicated that the daughter of the prominent NBC Universal vice chairman Ron Meyer is content with her life as Maguire's wife and a mother to Otis and Ruby.

She clearly defined her "epitome of happiness" as being with the people she loves.

"Being with my children, my family, and friends. I'm just as content sitting on the floor playing Barbies with my kids as I am having a glass of wine with my girlfriends," Meyer said.

She also stated that his loving husband's words, "Don't worry honey, sleep in. I will get up with the kids this morning," are one of the luxuries she enjoys.
