Two weeks after he was caught behind the wheel, a 10-year-old Norwegian has gotten hold of another car, driving the vehicle of a relative for 19 miles until a bystander snatched the car keys from him. MSN News reports that this time, Norway police have not been so forgiving and reported the incident to Child Services.

On February 12 the precocious Norwegian boy snatched his parents' car keys, loaded his 18-month-old sibling onto the car, and drove 10 kilometers before veering off the highway and lurching into a snowy ditch.

The boy reportedly intended to visit his grandparents who lived in Valdres, 60 kilometers away from his Dokka residence, according to The Independent. Meanwhile, the children's parents were asleep while he took off and when they woke, they discovered the children to be missing, along with their car.

Upon receiving the call from the parents, the police sought assistance from the public over Twitter and traffic radio. When he was found, the boy had initially told the snow plow driver that he was a dwarf and that he forgot his driver's license at home, The Independent reports.

Police spokesperson Baard Christiansen (Vest Oppland police) said, "Nobody was injured, but that was more due to luck than anything else. The adults around the boy must take responsibility now before a tragedy occurs," reports Reuters.

With this new development, the police have advised the parents that the 10-year-old, and the family's car keys, must now be under constant watch, notes Mail Online.

A similar incident occurred in Colorado, USA on February 10. A 10-year-old girl crashed a vehicle into the Division of Motor Vehicles office in the Denver suburb, reports CBS News.

The car had reportedly been sitting in the parking lot when the girl got in and started commandeering the vehicle. Her driving practice resulted in crashed office windows and minimal damage. Unlike the Oslo police, Colorado authorities charged the girl with reckless driving.

Needless to say, a child behind the wheel could never be a cute idea.
