Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade was inducted into the Miami Chamber of Commerce Sports Hall of Champions along with tennis legend Chris Evert, golf legend Jack Nicklaus and former MLB player and manager Woody Woodward.

"It is an honor. When I got the call, obviously I jumped on it right away and said of course I would. I'm overwhelmed in appreciation," Wade told NBA.com.

At his induction ceremony, Wade said that his heart is always with Miami and looks to finish his career with the Heat. "I'm at a loss for words. I'm overwhelmed and appreciative. I love the city. There's a business side of everything. But my heart, and where I always said I wanted to be, was here. I started my career here, and I would like to finish it," the 34-year-old shooting guard said as quoted by Miami Herald.

As per Bleacher Report, the 2006 Finals MVP signed a one-year, $20 million contract this past offseason after months of contract talks.  Before his induction, he told the Miami Herald that Heat ownership and front office did great during the offseason, saying, "I thought Pat Riley and Micky Arison and Nick Arison did a great job of building this team."

"When you can add youth like Justise Winslow and Josh Richardson, when you add those guys into veteran guys, it could be special. We have all the ingredients. We just have to make sure we mix it right. It's going to be a long journey of highs and lows. Hopefully, we end on a high," the three-time NBA champion added.

According to several reports, Pat Riley did a great job this offseason, drafting Winslow and Richardson, agreeing to a five-year, $90 million extension with Goran Dragic, and signing free agents Amar'e Stoudemire and Gerald Green. Add the fact that Chris Bosh is back healthy, the improvement of Hassan Whiteside and veteran presence of Luol Deng and Udonis Haslem.

"We have a lot of work to do to get to where we want to be, to get into the playoffs and hope to compete for a championship. But I really like this team. We've got a lot of depth. I love playing with veteran guys," Wade said.

Coming into the Heat's training camp starting Sept. 29 at FAU in Boca Raton, Wade looked slim and is in good shape. "I'm good in basketball shape. I will be turning 34 this year. A lot of people didn't think I would make it this long with the way I play. This summer was trying to challenge myself with my body," the 12-year veteran told 790 The Ticket via Miami Herald.

Wade has career averages of 24.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.9 blocks. He can join the 20,000-point club this season if he can stay healthy, per Basketball-Reference.com.
