Atlus has recently updated their official Persona 5 website (via Gematsu) to detail their first four main characters in their highly anticipated fifth installment of the RPG franchise.

These four characters make up the game's vigilante group called the "Phantom Thieves." It's also been confirmed that these characters are not the only members involved in the gang and more will be revealed with time.

The first character described is the story's (unnamed) protagonist, a 16-year-old high school student that transfers to Shujin High School. Despite seemingly "quiet and well-mannered," he's said to take on a whole new transformation upon wearing his "phantom thief" disguise. He stays at the Shiken Cafe and his recent residence in Tokyo hasn't yet received an explanation.

The next up is Ryuji Sakamoto, a 16-year-old that attends Shujin High School who is often described as a "problem child," and isn't known to have a friendly relationship with his school's teachers or staff. The reason for his acting out is currently unknown.

The game's female main character is named An Takamaki and is a blonde quarter-American girl that attends Shujin High School. She is the same age as the rest of the characters, but is often isolated as she finds it difficult to fit in due to her different appearance amongst her peers. She also happens to be the topic of many rumors that circulate the school's halls.

The last character outlined is a mysterious cat-like creature named Morgana. Not much else has been disclosed on this creature other than the fact that the character is female.

Persona 5 was announced to be delayed until summer 2016 at the Tokyo Game Show on Friday.

Atlus provided the following statement:

"The strengths of the Persona series are compelling characters, a moving, relatable story, and a borderline obsession with minutiae -- elements which can't be rushed or taken lightly. So while ATLUS realizes the frustration and disappointment that this must cause for the JRPG-loving public, please know that we are delaying the game in order to make sure the next iteration of the Persona series lives up to the expectations of fans."
