Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander wanted to get "blackout drunk" after a bad pitching outing in 2014 against the White Sox.

In an interview with ESPN, Verlander's girlfriend Kate Upton, 23, stated that he did just that.

"It was my birthday, and he had probably like his worst game ever, and no one had any idea how he'd respond to his worst game ever," Upton said.

"He vented to me in the car and was like, I am going to get blackout drunk. So a bunch of us went out and got blackout drunk! I had really good plans to eat popcorn and watch a movie, but he was like, I don't want to think about it, at all." she concluded.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the date was June 11, 2014. On that date, Verlander gave up seven runs in 5 2/3 innings in an 8-2 loss against the Chicago White Sox. It was also the day after Upton's birthday.

It is hard to be a major league pitcher and you can't blame Verlander for thinking that from time to time. The Tigers are having a disappointing season and are eliminated from postseason contention. Lets just hope that Verlander isn't taking this season very hard.

Verlander is having a pretty decent season going 5-8 with a 3.39 ERA. He won the Cy Young award and the American League MVP award in 2011, going 24-5 with a 2.40 ERA.

Glad to be at the @johnvarvatos event tonight supporting him and the comeback of Detroit! #JVDetroit #JV&JV
