Two weeks after BlackBerry officially confirmed that it will soon release an Android-based smartphone known as Priv, a new batch of leaked images has revealed some of the handset's basic specs.

One of the live stills has confirmed that the Priv is powered by Qualcomm's 64-bit Snapdragon 808 SoC with the Adreno 418 GPU, N4BB reported.

Another image has corroborated with previous rumors, which claimed that the handset's 18-megapixel Schneider Kreuznach rear-facing camera supports 4K video recording.

The last photo revealed that Blackberry's upcoming Android offering will feature the company's very own security app called "BlackBerry Safeguard." The tool displays the handset's security status, but not much else is known of the feature's other malware protection capabilities.

According to CNet, Priv is the Canadian mobile manufacturer's last ditch effort to become relevant in the iOS and Android era.

BlackBerry CEO John Chen explained that Priv stands for both "privilege" and "privacy." Sadly, the company hasn't gone into full detail as to how it would inculcate those ideals onto the handset.

However, there are speculations suggesting that BlackBerry might coat the handset's Android operating system with the BlackBerry 10 software. The latter is capable of separating business and personal profiles while having support for remote wiping and encryption.

Considering it is being marketed as an Android smartphone, the Priv is expected to have full accessibility to the Google Play Store, Google Now, Google Maps and so on. It isn't specified, though, whether or not the handset will run on Android 6.0 M at the time of its release. If not, the prospect of the handset being eventually seeded with Google's latest software update isn't too farfetched.

As for the other rumored specs of the Priv, it is said to sport a 5.5-Inch curved-edge display, 4GB of RAM and a five to eight-megapixel front facing unit.

The usual top-tier smartphone storage space increments are 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. It wouldn't be surprising for the Priv to come in all three variants as well. Basing from previous BlackBerry builds, the handset is also expected to support micro-SD expansion.

Lastly, Priv will stay true to the BlackBerry design since it has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, which looks slimmer this time around. The thinner setup lets the keyboard slide into the phone's body without adding extra weight and bulk to the handset.

BlackBerry will reportedly release its Android-based offering just before the holiday season this year. Rumor has it that the Priv will retail between AU$ 700 and AU$ 850 in Australia, which is £330 and £400 in the U.K. and anywhere around $500 to $600 in the U.S.
