Tom Hanks has found a Fordham student's college ID card and is attempting to return it to the owner via Twitter.

On Tuesday afternoon the "Castaway" actor tweeted a photo of the student's ID, along with the message, "Lauren! I found your Student ID in the park. If you still need it my office will get to you. Hanx."

The Oscar-winning actor's tweet was retweeted thousands of times and favorited over 10,000 times by Tuesday evening, according to Fox News.

One Twitter user praised Hanks for his kindness, replying to the original tweet, "You're just awesome." Another girl, named Hannah Anderson, tweeted a message along with a photo of a woman who looks a lot like the Lauren in question, indicating her friend is the student missing her ID.

In the past, Hanks experienced a similar benevolent gesture from a fellow New Yorker, when a guy named Tony sought out Hanks to return a precious belonging.

"A guy named Tony found my credit card on the street in NYC and returned it! Tony! You make this city even greater! Thanx. HANX," Hanks tweeted in March.

Hanks can next be seen in the Cold War thriller "Bridge of Spies," which is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 16. The film, directed by Steven Spielberg, also stars Alan Alda, Mark Rylance, Eve Hewson and Amy Ryan. Matt Charman, Ethan Coen and Joel Coen wrote the script.

Hanks is set to star in several other projects at the moment, including "Sully," "Ithaca," "A Hologram for the King," "The Circle," "Inferno" and "Toy Story 4."

The actor is also working as a producer on "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2," the TV series "American Gods," TV mini-series "Lewis and Clerk," and the TV series documentary "The Seventies."
