Speaking at a fundraiser hosted by the Latino Victory Project, Vice President Joe Biden had some harsh words for Republican presidential candidates, who he claimed were "beating" Hispanics down with their inflammatory rhetoric.

The 72-year-old lifelong politician, who has yet to make an official decision on whether or not he will run for president in 2016, went so far as to hint that the hurtful talk coming from the GOP was affecting the self-esteem of Latino voters.

Recalling a recent event held at the vice president's mansion in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Biden said that he was witness to a lot of dejected Latinos. As reported by CNN, Biden described how people in attendance "walked in like literally down because of the beating, the beating Hispanics are taking at the hands of the Republican caucus ... I mean the Republican presidential race."

"People are depressed,” he said. He added a small pep talk to the crowd, saying, “The message I have for you guys is these guys don't remotely speak for America."

"The American people are so much better. They are so far beyond. They are so, so, so much different than these guys who are appealing to everything from homophobia to this notion of the like know nothing party of the late 1800s," continued Biden, who brought up his past record regarding his support of voter registration legislation directed at getting more minorities to participate in elections.

"Matter of fact I co-sponsored the first motor voter registration bill that passed," Biden added.

In bringing Latinos to the table, Biden is shadowing Hillary Clinton's recent campaign strategy.

Andres Ramirez, a political strategist in Las Vegas, lauded the fact that Clinton has made a point to prioritize Latino voters. As quoted in the New York Times, Ramirez noted that ethnic outreach is typically considered a secondary priority of campaigns, “but when Hillary launched her campaign, she made it a primary concern.”
