Liverpool has not won the English Premier League title since 1990, and this season has not quite showed a progress that every Reds supporter wants. The club currently sits 10th on the Premier League Table with 12 points from three wins, three draws and two defeats.

After a 1-1 draw with Merseyside rivals Everton last Oct. 4, manager Brendan Rodgers was fired and quickly replaced by former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, per the official Liverpool website. The 48-year-old is now tasked to bring the Reds back to the European competition and has vowed that the club will finish in the top four this season, according to a report from Mirror.

To do that, Klopp needs to get the players see that he is fit to his brand of football. According to Express, he intends to sign one of his former players and current Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. The two teamed up together at Borussia Dortmund for four years and won two Bundesliga titles, a league cup, a league Super Cup and a Champions League runner-up finish in 2013, per Transfermarkt.

Express also reports that if this happens, it's a double hit for Bayern. It can be remembered that Klopp was lined up to replace Pep Guardiola this summer but was beaten to by Liverpool. The 27-year-old Polish superstar has already scored 21 goals for the club and country in just 14 appearances this season, including five in nine minutes against Wolfsburg.

The report also noted that Bayern would demand at least £60 million for Lewandowski, who came in on a Bosman transfer in 2014. The Polish player was signed to Dortmund by Klopp in 2010 as a complete unknown from Polish club Lech Poznan for £3.5 million and has emerged as one the best signings in Klopp's career.

According to Clark Whitey via Twitter, Lewandowski is currently the best striker in the world and clubs would line up for his services. Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing the player, as per another report from Mirror.

However, Bleacher Report noted that the possibility of Lewandowski leaving Bayern for Liverpool is low as the player is in the form of his career and would be crazy to even consider selling him. As for Klopp and Liverpool, they still have a plenty of available strikers in the club including £32 million Christian Benteke, Danny Ings, Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli, who is on loan at AC Milan, per Mirror.

Among other rumored transfer targets for Liverpool is Swansea's Andre Ayew, who the German coach targeted while he was with Dortmund, per a separate Mirror report.
