Wednesday night's all-new episode of "Bones" will mark Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan's (Emily Deschanel) official return to the Jeffersonian Institution, where they will take on a "fishy" case involving trout.

Last week's episode ended with a shocking twist, as Cam (Tamara Taylor) and Arastoo (Pej Vahdat) broke up, after Cam chose to put her career first rather than accepting his offer to move away together. However, in spite of the couple's unexpected fallout, showrunner Michael Peterson teased that their split may not be permanent.

"There's always hope," he told TVLine in a recent interview. "We're going to shake things up. It's wonderful to be on a show for the 11th season, but we want to make sure we play with everybody's expectations and you keep watching every week because who knows what's going to happen? But again, we want to keep it character-focused. By doing the jump in timeline, it was just an organic way to play with the expectations of Cam and Arastoo's relationship. Certainly, for a while, Arastoo is gone. He is off looking at other opportunities."

He added that Arastoo will return later on in the season during the 10th episode to start "a new, major storyline." This could mean that the couple will eventually get back together, but in the meantime, they will explore other "options" while they are broken up, he said.

On a brighter note, the issues surrounding Booth's disappearance were resolved in the last episode, and the couple seemed to be on good terms. He and Brennan also decided to return to the Jeffersonian full time. According to a preview video, the first case that they face involves rainbow trout, after human remains are found inside of a fish.

CarterMatt reports the synopsis for the episode, which is titled "The Donor in the Drink," reads as follows:

"On Brennan and Booth's first official day back at their respective positions at the Jeffersonian and the FBI, things get exciting when remains are found at a fish farm under suspicious conditions, prompting them to investigate. After it's discovered that someone harvested several of the victim's internal organs before he was dumped in the water, Angela tracks down the seller and buyer of the organs to try to uncover important details in the case. Meanwhile, Booth readjusts to his position back at the FBI and discovers Aubrey has taken over his old office; Hodgins pushes Angela to showcase her photography work; and Cam struggles with her decision to choose work over her relationship with Arastoo."

Episode 3 of Season 11 of "Bones," "The Donor in the Drink," will air on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
